Wedding Invitations
By the way - This means übrigens in German.
Off the back of my head is used when one isn't sure about something. So ist das Leben.
The way the cookie crumbles is another way of saying that's life. - So ist das Leben.
And now to our story -
Ken - I wonder when Jane's mum and dad are going to send out the wedding invitations.
Jean - Oh, don't worry, Ken. It's only October, and the wedding's not until next April. There's still plenty of time.
Ken - I don't know, Jean. People need time to plan. And, April will come quickly enough. And, what about accommodation? Where's everyone going to stay?
Jean - It's interesting you should say that, Ken. I bumped into Raechel in the village last week. She told me she had 6 rooms still vacant for the 2nd weekend in April. And, what's more, Mrs. Blyton, who runs the Toorington Keys, still has 6 or 7 rooms still free for that weekend. But, Raechel said, we must hurry
Ken - That's what I mean, Jean. It's important to get the invitations out as soon as possible. And, by the way, when will Jane's parents be back?
Jean - A good question, Ken. Off the back of my head, I'm not sure. I'll ask Dave when he comes in for his lunch.
Ken - And, by the way, what is for lunch today?
Jean - Cold beef and mash followed by your favourite sweet.
Ken - Spotty Dog and custard?
Jean - Right first time. And, by the way, it's Dave's favourite as well.
Ken - I wonder if Jane knows how to make Spotty Dog.
Jean - A good question. But, I really must be getting on, Ken. What are you doing this morning?andKen - Nothing out of the ordinary. A bit of this and a bit of that. Nothing exciting.
Jean - Well, that's the way the cookie crumbles. See you at lunchtime.
Ken - Have fun in the kitchen, Jean!
